The Nature Conservancy, Oregon, 2002-Present
Zumwalt Prairie Preserve Vegetation Inventory

Wallowa County, OR. Coordinated and performed collection of dry weight rank, rangeland health, and site assessments on the preserve. Synergy ground-truthed soil survey and ecological site information and provided preliminary management recommendations. Synergy is currently developing a grazing and monitoring plan for the Preserve.

Vale BLM, 2001 and 2002
Post-fire rehabilitation assessment
Malheur County, OR. Designed monitoring protocol and conducted fieldwork to quantify success of reseeding burn areas as well as effects of reseeding on sensitive species (Astragalus mulfordiae). Conducted monitoring on 4 fires that burned 112,000 acres.

Falcon to Gonder 345 kv transmission line
Lander, Eureka, and White Pine Counties, NV. Coordinated and conducted field work to identify, map, and quantify vegetation cover types, threatened and sensitive plant populations, weeds, wetlands, and “Waters-of-the-U.S.” for approximately 500 miles of proposed access and transmission-line corridors for Sierra Pacific Power Company.

Modoc and Lassen Counties, CA and Washoe County, NV. Provided agency coordination, designed site-specific revegetation prescriptions, supervised implementation of revegetation, and erosion-control plans for 165-mile 345 Kv transmission line for Sierra Pacific Power Company.

Lone Tree Cattle Company, 1999-Present
Litigation support and biological inventory
Mono County, CA. Developed grazing plan. Provided expert litigation support for comments, protests, and appeals for Bureau of Land Management land planning documents. Conducted proper functioning condition riparian assessments, rangeland health upland assessments, vegetation and water quality monitoring, and photo point establishment.

Smith Creek Ranch, Ltd., 1997-Present
Grazing plan development and biological survey
Churchill and Lander Counties, NV. Developed grazing plan in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management for inclusion in the Desatoya Mountains Ecosystem Management Plan. Conducted ecological status inventory, proper functioning condition riparian assessments, rangeland health upland assessments, frequency trend sampling, riparian green line monitoring, and photo point establishment. Developed and conducted upland and riparian monitoring for the ranch’s BLM allotments.

Dearing Ranch, 2000-2002
Grazing plan development and litigation support
Malheur County, OR. Developed grazing plan accepted by BLM and incorporated into current grazing permit. Provided expert litigation support for successful resolution of comments, protests, and appeals for Bureau of Land Management land planning documents including Bully Creek Landscape Area Management Plan. Conducted riparian and upland monitoring.

Dearing Ranch
1999-2002. Malheur County, OR. Provided expert litigation support for successful resolution of comments, protests, and appeals for Bureau of Land Management land planning documents including Bully Creek Landscape Area Management Plan. Conducted riparian and upland monitoring.

Blincoe et al. v Bureau of Land Management
2001. San Bernardino County, CA. Provided data analysis, litigation support, and expert testimony for hearings encompassing 7 ranches and 8 allotments.

Western Watersheds Project v Glenn A. Carpenter et al.
2001 to 2003. Rich, Tooele, and Box Elder Counties, Utah. Provided expert litigation support for interveners regarding grazing re-authorizations on over 1-million acres of BLM lands in Utah.
